A self taught nature and wildlife photographer, Herb Houghton spent most of his life in New Jersey, traveling up and down the east coast from Maine to Florida. He has also explored and photographed fish and game in various venues throughout Mexico. Having been a bird lover since childhood, Herb has more recently concentrated in avian photography, capturing amazing images of birds in flight and on the hunt, from hummingbirds to the great bald eagles now re-populating the Garden State. Herb also enjoys all wildlife and landscape photography, sometimes dabbling in macro photography of insects, dragonflies, and flowers.
Herb photographs wildlife year round, noting that he sees the most variety in the spring, from bluebirds to warblers. He spends his summers capturing water birds such as egrets, herons and various shorebirds. In the fall, peak season for the raptors, Herb concentrates on migrating birds such as hawks and falcons. Come winter, Herb is occupied with the bald eagles of the upper Delaware and Hudson Rivers, as well as the owls and hawks as they patrol the frozen marshes of the Meadowlands.
